Educational traditions on the Swedish Tomb

The tour is dedicated to the unknown history of the Swedish Tomb. It will plunge into the roaring time of 1917 – 1921 and tell about the close connection between history, education, religion, and museology.

During the tour you’ll learn about:

  • the history of the first school on the Swedish Tomb;
  • the activities of the Oleksandro-Mykolaivska church-teacher school having three grades (modern Institute of Pig Breeding and Agricultural Production of NAAS);
  • what connects the cadets of the Petrovskyi Poltava Cadet Corps with the Battle Field of Poltava?
  • the forgotten page of the charitable activity of «Sisterhood» and its inspired leader Mariia Prokhorova;
  • the history of the hospital and children’s orphanage on the Swedish Tomb (modern premises of the Poltava Battle History Museum).

The tour includes a visit to the Poltava Battle History Museum.

The tour ticket price is 500 UAH (themed tour) per group + 40 UAH per person (admission charge) (for a group of up to 25 people).
